The favela da Rocinha used to be largest slums in south america until 1992, when it became a district of Rio de Janeiro and conquered its own administrative zone, with an office and an administrator.
Nowadays, this district has a population of approximately 200,000 inhabitants. Although it preserves the unorganized look of a slum, it has everything any other district of Rio has, such as: clinics, supermarkets, public schools, banks and even a tv station. The project from the Instituto Rumo Certo (Right Way Institute), has been functioning for over 03 years and with the help of its volunteers, they bring hope to more than 800 children, through the practice of sports and arts
Tour Duration: 3 hours
Included: Transportation, guiding services, a visit to the street art school of the Naif art, a walk through some of the alleys of Rocinha, a visit to a local family home, and a tour around the commercial area, in order to get the feeling of the environment.
Tips: Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes. Take your camera with you !
